Master Painting & Renovations ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website masterpainting.ca. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
Information you give us
Estimate requests and enquiries
When you request a free estimate or send us a message through a form on this site, we collect:
- Your name
- Your phone number
- Your email address
- The community your project is in
- The type of project you are planning
- Anything else you choose to tell us in the message field
This information is emailed directly to our office team so we can call you back and prepare your quote. We use it to serve you, and for nothing else.
Job applications
When you apply through our careers page, we collect your name, phone number, email address, a description of your experience, and the resume file you attach. Applications go to our hiring team by email and are kept separate from our customer enquiries. We do not use job application information for marketing, and applying does not add you to any advertising audience.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we collect some technical information when you visit, through cookies and similar technologies:
- IP address and the approximate region it points to
- Browser type and version, device type, and operating system
- Pages you viewed, and how long you spent on them
- The website, search, or advertisement that brought you here
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use them for two purposes:
- Measurement and advertising. Cookies set by Google and Meta help us understand how visitors use the site and which advertisements lead to enquiries. These are described in the next section.
- Campaign attribution. If you arrive from an advertisement,
an email, or a tracked link, we store the campaign details from that link
(such as UTM parameters, a Google click identifier, or a Meta click
identifier) in a first-party cookie named
mp_attributionfor up to 30 days. If you later submit a form, those details are included in the enquiry so we know which campaign to credit. This cookie holds campaign labels, not your name or contact details.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies will not stop you from using the site or contacting us, though some features may behave differently.
Analytics and advertising partners
We use Google Tag Manager to manage measurement tags, Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used, and Google Ads conversion tracking and remarketing to measure and improve our advertising. Where enhanced conversions are used, contact information you have already given us (such as your email address or phone number) may be converted into a secure, irreversible hashed form before it is sent to Google, so that a conversion can be matched to an advertisement click. Google receives the hashed value, not the original details.
You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, and you can manage advertising personalisation in your Google Ad Settings.
Meta (Facebook and Instagram)
We use the Meta pixel to measure the results of our Facebook and Instagram advertising, and we may send the same conversion events to Meta from our server for accuracy. This tells us that an enquiry came from a particular advertisement. You can manage how your activity is used for advertising in your Meta ad preferences.
How we use your information
- To answer your questions and prepare estimates for your project
- To communicate with you about work we are quoting or carrying out
- To review and respond to job applications
- To improve this website and the services we offer
- To measure which marketing brings us enquiries, so we spend wisely
- To meet legal, accounting, and reporting obligations
How we share your information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us run the business, including our website host, our email delivery provider, and the analytics and advertising platforms described above. They may only use the information to provide their service to us.
- Trades and suppliers working on your project, and only the details they need to complete it.
- Professional advisors such as our accountants or legal counsel.
- Law enforcement or regulatory bodies where we are required by law to do so.
Some of these providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, plus any period required for legal, warranty, accounting, or reporting reasons. Estimate requests that do not become projects, and job applications we do not proceed with, are kept for a limited period and then removed.
How we protect it
We use appropriate technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal information against loss, unauthorized access, and misuse. This site is served over an encrypted connection, and access to enquiry and application email is limited to the staff who need it. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA and BC PIPA, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep
- Withdraw your consent to future use of your information
- Ask how your information has been used and who it has been shared with
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
